Marvel J. Arnold, 89, of Humboldt, passed away August 15, 2011 at the Humboldt Care Center North.  Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt with the Rev. Walden Paige officiating.  Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today (Tuesday) at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.  Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Humboldt.
Marvel is survived by her children, Mary Jo Arnold of Colorado Springs, CO, Terry Arnold of Gilmore City, Pat Houston of Denver, CO, and Jan (Jake) Simonsen of Humboldt; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Barry (Shirley) Waters of Sun City, AZ; sisters-in-law, Norene Reiglesberger of Rolfe, and Barb Arneman of Arizona.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne Arnold; granddaughter, Jasie Simonsen; brother, James Waters; and sister, Bryle Johnson.
Marvel June Waters, the daughter of Vern and Mary (Wright) Waters, was born June 21, 1922 at Havelock, Iowa.  She was raised at Havelock and graduated from Havelock High School.  On September 9, 1943, she was united in marriage to Wayne Arnold and while he was serving in the United States Army Air Corps the couple made their home in Del Rio, Texas.  Following his honorable discharge, Wayne and Marvel made their home on the family farm near Plover.  In 1964, the family moved to Humboldt where Marvel was employed by the Ben Franklin Store and in the pharmacies of Ernie Clemonson and Gary Ebling.

Marvel was a faithful member of the Faith United Methodist Church where she was active in UMW.  She was also a 67-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and a member of the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital Axillary.  Mr. Arnold passed away in 2006 and Marvel continued to maintain her home in Humboldt until becoming a resident of the Humboldt Care Center North in 2008.

Marvel enjoyed golfing and participated in Tuesday women’s league.  She also enjoyed reading and playing bridge.
