Marvin O. Buhr, 88, of Humboldt, passed away June 29, 2014 at the Humboldt Care Center North. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 5th at Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Humboldt with full military rites by the Adams American Legion Post 119 and Sathers-Odgaard VFW Post 5240. Visitation will be Saturday from 10-11:30 a.m. at the church. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt is in charge of arrangements.
Marvin Orval Buhr, the son of Edwin and Lizzie (Jaschen) Buhr, was born January 16, 1926 at Sumner, Iowa. Following his education, he served in the United States Navy from 1944-1946. He was united in marriage to Lodyce Sell on June 2, 1950. In 1951, Marvin received his B.A. Degree from Upper Iowa University.
Marvin served as a teacher and coach for the school districts of Claremont, Dundee, and Dysart before moving to Humboldt in 1960. In his retirement, Marvin enjoyed golf.
Mr. Buhr is survived by his wife, Lodyce Buhr of Humboldt; daughters, Debra Buhr of Springfield, MO, Marajo Benda of Marshalltown, IA, and Lori Buhr of Springfield, MO; 3 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 1 sister; and 1 brother. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers.
