Marvin D. Grebner, 85 of Humboldt, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2019 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital’s Long Term Care.
He was born August 11, 1934 in Badger, Iowa, the son of George and Elsie (Zabel) Grebner. He attended Weaver Elementary #6 and then later graduated from Humboldt High School in 1953. He was drafted into the Army and served in the 87th Engineering Battalion in Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Marvin was united in marriage to the love of his life, Donna Edwards on June 11, 1958 in Humboldt. The couple made their home in Humboldt where he worked 44 years as a surveyor / inspector for the Humboldt County Engineers Department, retiring in 2000. Marvin enjoyed collecting antique Ford cars, participating in car shows and cruises, attending antique tractor shows, as well as decorating his yard for the holidays. He was a member of the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church Men’s group.
He is survived by his two children, Teresa (Jon) Grice of Humboldt, Matthew Grebner of West Des Moines, grandchildren Sam Grice, Meg Grice and Cole Grebner, his brothers Larry Grebner and Leo (Linda) Grebner both of Humboldt, his sister Donna (Dale) Carman of Spencer, his sisters-in-law Barb Edwards of Utah, Pat Sleiter, Marilyn (Bob) Torgerson, Joyce (Winton) Hansen all of Humboldt, Helen (Kent) Thorson of Clarinda, Judy (Dave) Pedersen of Harlan and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Donna, sister Betty Vought, sisters-in-law Ione Grebner, Jean Watts, Marian Edwards and Helen Edwards, brothers-in-law John Vought, Ron Watts, Cliff Edwards, Jack Edwards and Ervin Sleiter and several nieces & nephews.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 30th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Mason- Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 31st at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Indian Mound Cemetery.
