Marvin L. Kuehnast, 82, of Humboldt passed away January 2, 2010 at the Humboldt Care Center South.  Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt with the Rev. J.K. Raether officiating.  Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Humboldt.  Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the church.  The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt is assisting the family.
Mr. Kuehnast is survived by his wife, Doris of Humboldt; children, Sandra Kay Gregg of Hawarden, Kathy (Kevin) Vance of Bridgman, MI, Cindy (Mike) Weston of Bloomington, IN, and Brent (Susan) Kuehnast of Humboldt; and grandchildren, Brandon (Lacy) Place, Andrew, Lisa, and Michael Gregg, Grant and Benjamin Kuehnast, and Ryan (Kristan) Vance and their daughter, Alexa. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Vernice Tanner.

Marvin Louis Kuehnast, the son of Emil and Amanda (Weiss) Kuehnast, was born September 12, 1927 in Beaver Township, Humboldt County.  He attended Beaver Township Country Schools and received his year of confirmation.  Following his graduation from Humboldt High School, he farmed for a year with his father until May of 1946 when he entered the United States Army.  Following his Honorable Discharge, he returned home to join his father in the family’s farming operations.  He was united in marriage to Doris Kalahar on September 11, 1954 at Lehigh.  The couple made their home on the family farm where they remained all of their 55 years of marriage until moving to Humboldt in July of 2009.
Marvin was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church where he held various offices of the church including, past President of the Congregation, Elder Committee, Building Committee, Cemetery Committee, was a member of the Church Choir, and as a young man was an active member of Walther League.  He was also a member of the Farmers COOP Elevator Board, the Humboldt Community School Board, and the Farm Bureau Board.  Marvin loved managing his farming and livestock operations, family vacations and trips to the State Fair and farming shows.  He also enjoyed following his children’s activities, snowmobiling, Iowa State and Minnesota Twins Games, visiting with family and friends, and puzzles.
