Marvin William Origer, 76, of Rutland, passed away on Feb. 2, 2012 at the South Care Center in Humboldt. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Humboldt. Interment will be in St. Joe Cemetery with full military rites by the Adams American Legion Post 119 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5240. Visitation is from 2 – 6 p.m. Sunday at the. Mason Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt A parish rosary will be at 3 p.m. and a parish scripture service at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Marvin William Origer the son of John and Margaret Ester (Buttmore) Origer was born June 7, 1935 in Algona, Iowa. Marvin graduated from St. Joe High School in1953. After graduation Marvin farmed a few years before entering the army in 1958. After retuning home he married Wilma Tiernan on Jan 3, 1962. He moved to Rutland in 1991 but continued to farm until 2009 as well as working for approximately 15 years at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital in the maintenance department. He had a big heart and would help anyone and it really showed when he was around his grandchildren. Marvin loved to do what he called the neighborhood watch checking out what was going on and when he finished that he loved to go to Kellner’s Auction (the big house) and play some cribbage.
Marvin is survived by his sons, Thomas (Sophia) of Des Moines; Edward (Patty) of Adel; Paul (Stacey) of Humboldt; Daniel (Kathy) of McCallsburg; grandchildren, Ronald, Casey, Teresa, Angela, Amy, Danielle, Elizabeth, Jeremy, Carissa, Rachel, Patrick, Dylan, Lydia, Kiara, Wyatt, Levi; great-grandchildren Sheyann, Chase, Dominic, Laylah, James, Adam and brother Greg.. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Robert, grandchild, Adam and sister Mary Jane.
