Mary Ann Ellifritz, 69, of Humboldt, passed away March 10, 2009 at the Hospice Inpatient Unit of Mercy Medical Center in Mason City. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday in the chapel of the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home at Humboldt. She will be laid to rest in Indian Mound Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Ellifritz is survived by her husband, Dan Ellifritz of Humboldt; sons, Dan (Christina) Ellifritz of St. Paul, MN, and Darin Ellifritz of Nashua; four grandchildren; brother Bob Cook of Fort Dodge; and sister, Sue Baker of Arizona. Her parents preceded her in death.
Mary Ann Cook was born January 12, 1940 at Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was raised and educated at Fort Dodge and graduated from Fort Dodge High School. Following her education, she was employed in the theater at Fort Dodge. She was united in marriage to Dan Ellifritz on October 18, 1969 at Fort Dodge and to this union was born two sons, Daniel and Darrin. The couple made their home at Fort Dodge briefly before moving to Humboldt in 1970. For a time, Mary Ann worked as a secretary for Jet-Co then as a homemaker. Mary Ann passed away on the evening of March 10, 2009 at the age of 69.
Mrs. Ellifritz enjoyed knitting and crocheting and was know for the quality of baby blankets and afghans that she made.
