Mary Elizabeth (Campbell) Will, 80, of Humboldt, passed away at her home on July 14, 2009. A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 18, 2009 at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt, IA. Per Mary’s wishes, her body has been cremated.
Mary, the daughter of Mary (Mame) and John Campbell, Sr., was born in Dumont, Iowa on November 5, 1928. Two years after Mary was born, the family moved to Humboldt, Iowa. She attended St. Mary’s School and continued her education at St. Theresa’s College in Winona, MN and also attended the University of Iowa. After living in Iowa, Illinois, and Montana, Mary returned to Humboldt until her passing. She married Gary Vander Bie and later married Cecil Will. Mary was an avid reader and enjoyed golfing with family and friends.
Mary is survived by twin daughters, Kimberly (VanderBie) Johnson of Litchfield, MN and Kathleen (VanderBie) Courtney of Humboldt, IA; grandchildren, Sarah and Lizzie Johnson of Litchfield, MN, George (Nikki) Fountas of Cedar Falls, IA and Ryan Courtney of Humboldt, IA; great-granddaughter Amelia Fountas; and her sister-in-law Mary Alice Campbell of Sheldon, IA. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Dorothy Clancy and Ruth Dockry; brothers Jack Campbell and Keith Campbell, former husband, Gary Vander Bie, husband, Cecil Will, son-in-laws Tony Fountas and Joe Courtney and very special niece, MaryKay Scavone.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Hospice staff and especially to Christina Weydert, her Hospice nurse.
