Meridee O. “Jodi” Mahan, 74, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, July 10, 2024 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge.

Jodi was born January 13, 1950 in Estherville, Iowa, the daughter of Orville and DeMaris (Reutzel) Molan. She grew up in Minnesota and Estherville, graduating from Estherville High School in 1968. She worked various places until her high school sweetheart Joseph P. Mahan was discharged from the service and they were united in marriage on October 8, 1971 in Vermillion, South Dakota. The couple made their home in Polk City, Iowa, Parkville, Missouri, Fort Dodge and in 1999 moved to Humboldt. Throughout Jodi’s working career she was present for her family, was a foster parent and became an advocate for people with disabilities, serving their needs and making lives more special. She loved her dogs, genealogy, traveling the United States with her husband and being a second mom to her grandson Joey. She attended every event of his often being his loudest cheering fan and got a kick out of teaching him to drive at her age.

Jodi is survived by her husband Joseph of Humboldt, her daughter Shelly Mahan (Chuck Wernett) of Badger, grandson Joey Mahan, her brother Orvin (Lori) Molan of Viborg, South Dakota, her brother-in-laws; Mark Mahan, Bob (Bev) Mahan, Edwin Mahan and Lynn Mahan, and her sister-in-law Mary Kay Baier. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents and her sister Marva Lee Molan.
