Merna Louise Benjamin

Merna L. Benjamin, 80 of Gilmore City died Friday June 30, 2017 at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was born on August 11, 1936 in Groton, South Dakota, the daughter of Olaf and Lillie Doeringsfield. She was a 1954 graduate of Gilmore City High School. She married Stanley (Butch) Benjamin on December 5, 1954 in Gilmore City. To this union 3 sons were born; David, Steven, and Mark.
Merna enjoyed the outdoors, camping, her flowers, biking, and puzzles.
She is survived by her husband Butch, sister Ardis Shirbroun of Callender, daughter-in-law Brenda Benjamin of Gilmore City, son Steven Benjamin of Las Vegas, Nevada, son Mark (Jami) Benjamin of Peosta, Iowa, grandson Brad (Keri) Benjamin of Humboldt, grandson Tyler (Danielle) Benjamin of Denver, Colorado, granddaughter Jessica (Alex) Benjamin of State Center, and granddaughter Lexi Benjamin of Torrance, California; great-grandchildren Reese, Jase, and Audrey, and a host of nieces and nephews. Merna is preceded in death by her parents and son, David Benjamin.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 6, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Funeral Service will be Friday July7, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Rutland Trinity Lutheran Church with burial to follow at Marble Valley Cemetery in Gilmore City.
