Merrill E. Torgerson, the son of Myles and Marie (Metzger) Torgerson, was born February 11, 1945 at the Algona Hospital in Algona, Iowa. He lived with his family on a farm near Bode until the age of six when the family moved to Humboldt. He received his education at Humboldt and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1965. Following his education, Merrill made his home in Humboldt where he was employed by P&M Stone, Garrison Ford, and Humboldt Motor Sales. Merrill became a resident of the Humboldt Care Center North ten years ago.
Merrill enjoyed his Ham Radio and loved his bowling. Following his move to the care center, bowling on the Wii became his passion. He never forgot a name – if he knew you, he knew your name. Merrill developed many good friendships over the years and will be missed by all.
Merrill is survived by his sister, Marcine (Dr. Jim) Illig of Humboldt; brothers, Dennis (Colleen) Torgerson of Urbandale and Darwin Torgerson of Humboldt; eight nieces and nephews; and thirteen great nieces and nephews. His mother and his father preceded him in death.
