Michael R. Williams, 63 of Dakota City, passed away at his home unexpectedly on the morning of August 22, 2018.
He was born December 18, 1954 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of Virgil and Marian (Link) Williams. He grew up on a farm near Humboldt and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1973. He then enrolled in mechanical classes at Iowa Central Community College. Mike began farming with his father following school and his love for the land started a lifelong career in farming. He was united in marriage to Peggy J. George on December 6, 1975 in Humboldt. The couple made their home on a farm near Humboldt where they raised their family and in 2003 moved to Dakota City. Mike was a student of music. He was a member of the groups, Back Porch Swing and Seldom Seen. A musician at heart, he was a song writer, singer and played the harmonica and guitar as well as many other instruments. He participated in the Humboldt Community Chorus, Oak Hill Worship Team and played for the cowboy worship services at Faith United Methodist Church. To Mike’s credit and in his home recording studio, he recorded numerous albums, both original and covers. Aside from music, he especially loved his wife, children and grandchildren and had a tremendous love for the Lord.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy of Dakota City, his daughters, Amanda (Justin) Thompson of Ames and Monica (Luke) Albertson of Minneapolis, his grandchildren, Ari, Eisley, Iylah and Adrah and his parents, Virgil and Marian Williams of Livermore. He was preceded in death by his brother, Danny and infant brother, David.
