Mildred E. Nervig, 93, formerly of Clarion and Hardy, passed away November 3, 2008 at the Golden Living Center in Rochester, MN. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran Church at Hardy. Interment will be in Trinity Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Mrs. Nervig is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Dean and Julia Nervig of Omaha, NE, and Dennis and Audrey Nervig of Rochester, MN; grandchildren, Michael (Rhonda) Nervig, Diana (Todd) Lambert, Tim (Yvette) Nervig, Kristin (Michael) Driscol-Nervig, Andrea (Paul) Scott, and Bethany Nervig; and great grandchildren, Morgan, Lindsey, Blair, Hanna, Grace, Kirstin, and Halie. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Orville; and brother, Art Nelson.
Mildred Evelyn Nelson, the daughter of Amos and Clara (Knutson) Nelson, was born November 1, 1915 at Hardy, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Trinity Lutheran Church at Hardy and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1933. Following her education, Mildred taught at a rural school in Lake Township. She was united in marriage to Orville Nervig on March 3, 1937. The couple made their home on the Nervig Farm one mile north of the Trinity Church where they farmed for 40 years. In 1977, the couple moved to Humboldt and in 1995, they made their home in Clarion. Mr. Nervig passed away in 2004.
Mrs. Nervig was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church at Hardy where she was active in E.L.C.W. An avid golfer, Mildred was a member of the Goldfield Country Club and enjoyed two hole-in-ones. She was a member of Senior Citizens and enjoyed cards, games, and fishing. Mildred found comfort in her faith and family.
