Mina C. Vinsand, 99, of Humboldt passed away June 7, 2009, at the Long Term Care Unit if the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Indian Mound Cemetery at Humboldt.
Mrs. Vinsand is survived by her daughter, Beverly Sherwood of Humboldt; grandchildren, Terri (Tony) Nissen of Glendale, AZ, and Tom Sherwood of Humboldt; and great granddaughters, Trinity Nissen of Glendale, AZ, and Reagan (Clint) Redman of Marshalltown. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin; sisters, Lula Thompson and Mildred Twait; and brothers, Robert Thompson.
Mina Cornelia Thomason, the daughter of Robert and Blanche (Coonce) Thompson, was born May 6, 1910 at Vincennes, Indiana. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Humboldt, Iowa where she received her education. She was united in marriage to Melvin Vinsand on October 10, 1928 and the couple made their home on a farm near Humboldt. They then purchased a farm in Minnesota where they made their home. Following their retirement, the couple returned to Humboldt. Mr. Vinsand passed away on July 4, 1978 and Mina continued to maintain her home until becoming a resident of the Long Term Care Unit in November of 2002. She passed away there on the afternoon of June 7, 2009 at the age of 99.
