Monte J. Cunningham, 66 of Humboldt, passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 3, 1953 in Fort Dodge the son of John Robert and Dorothea Anne (Terwilliger) Cunningham. He grew up in the Humboldt area graduating from Humboldt High School in 1971. He was united in marriage to Joalyn Kay Meyer on January 12, 1975. The couple made their home in Bradgate and in 1988 moved to Humboldt. Monte worked as a parts man for Humboldt Red Power for over twenty years. He was a member of Faith Community Church in Palmer, LifeGate Fellowship, Humboldt, the Modifiers Auto Club, Boot Scooters, Kiwanis, the Humboldt Rifle & Pistol Club and a life member of the NRA and Ducks Unlimited. Monte loved his family and sense of value with all work, and enjoyed people and filling their needs.
Monte is survived by his wife Joalyn of Humboldt, his daughters Jamey (Chad) Gregersen and Misti (Kyle) Rierson both of Pocahontas, his grandchildren Hannah, Sydney and Nathan Gregersen, Katie and Brianna Rierson, his sisters Lynne Sullivan of Clear Lake and June Satern of Livermore. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 5th and the Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 6th both at Faith Community Church in Palmer. Burial will be in Indian Mound Cemetery. Memorials in his name may be made to Ducks Unlimited, Meals From the Heartland or Relay for Life.
