Myron Haugland, 87, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, March 27, 2022, at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. He was born at home on the family farm in Goldfield, Iowa, to Arthur and Olive (Reed) Haugland on January 26, 1935.
Myron graduated from Renwick High School, Class of ’52, after which he enlisted in the U.S. Army. Serving during the Korean War, Myron was stationed in Germany. Upon his return, Myron began his career with Fareway Stores Inc., where he worked as a grocery buyer, and retired in 2004, after 49 years of service.
Myron was an avid golfer, fisherman, hunter, who also enjoyed boating, playing cards, and watching sports. He was fortunate to have traveled many places but especially enjoyed staying at his cabin in Clear Lake and taking numerous fishing trips to Minnesota and Canada. Many fond memories were made there with family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is lovingly survived by his wife Margaret Haugland, sons David (Renee) Haugland, Dennis (Renee) Haugland, Doug (Mary Jane) Haugland, and Dwight (Jane) Haugland, step-children Dean (Tina) Anderson, Cindi Anderson, Mysty (Kenny) Green, David Anderson, Lisa (Foster) Caryl, and Heidi (Ryan) Gidel, 9 grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 20 step-great-grandchildren, 5 step-great-great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family members and friends.
Myron was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Gene Haugland, Melvin Haugland, and Shirley Fisher, half-brother Buddy Haugland, and his half-sister Bev Haugland.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with funeral service to begin at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 4, 2022, at Oak Hill Church, 905 13th St. SW, Humboldt. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery with military honors by the Sathers-Odgaard American Legion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the discretion of the family.
