Nathalie T. Schulze, 85, of Dakota City, passed away April 30, 2012 at the Paula Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge, IA. Funeral services for Nathalie will be11:00 a.m. Thursday May 3, 2012 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday May 2, 2012 at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt, IA.
Nathalie is survived by her children Richard (Dawn Stangl) Schulze, Des Moines, IA, Ruth (Mark) Nekonchuk, Omaha, NE. four grandchildren, sister Iva Mae (Don) Keiser, Rockwell City, sister-in-law Joyce Tonderum, Tucson, Arizona and many nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ralph in 1985, brother Ordian Tonderum and sister Sylva Heggen.
Nathalie Tonderum, the daughter of Severin and Thelma (Berge) Tonderum, was born October 12, 1926 at Ottosen, Iowa. She received her education and graduated from Bode High School with the class of 1944. She then attended and graduated from Waldorf College and served the school districts of Cylinder, Lake Park, and Humboldt as a teacher. On August 1, 1948, Nathalie was united in marriage to Ralph Schultz. The couple made thier home in Humboldt for a short time before moving to Dakota City where they resided for many years. Mr. Schulze passed away in October of 1985 and Nathalie continued to maintain her home in Dakota City.
Nathalie was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt. She was a lifetime member of the Humboldt County Historical Society and the Humboldt County Hospital Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Worthwhile Club, Women’s Club, the Humboldt County Genealogical Society, Retired School Personnel, and several book clubs. She enjoyed reading and crocheting, especially prayer shawls for members of her church.
