Norma Brodale, 66, of Bode, passed away October 14, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City. Visitation for Norma will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Bode.
Norma is survived by her husband Ted Brodale of Bode; her son, daughter, and grandchildren, Brad (Abby) Brodale and Isabelle and Hunter of Humboldt; and Cori Brodale and Jaci and Tyler of Gilmore City and sisters, Lucille Phillips and Betty Scheuchl. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ron.
Norma Sperry, the daughter of Ed and Taimi “Tye” Sperry, was born March 18, 1947 in Escanaba, Michigan. As a child, she moved with her family to the Chicago suburb of Zion, Illinois where she graduated from High School. She then married and made her home in Florida and Georgia. The marriage was later dissolved and she joined her parents in Gilmore City. She met Ted Brodale at Gilmore City and on December 1, 1976 the couple were united in marriage and made their home at Bode.
Norma was in the restaurant business in Bradgate and Gilmore City and served the culinary needs of the boy’s ranches in Algona and Fort Dodge and the Holiday Inn at Fort Dodge. She enjoyed gardening and flowers, cooking, fishing, and sewing. She especially loved the ocean and scuba dived and sky dived in her younger years.
