Norma Carver, 83, formerly of Humboldt, IA, died on November 29, 2017 at Ridgewood Care Facility, in Bennington, NE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 4, 2017, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Humboldt. Norma’s visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Norma was born on April, 25, 1934 in Jolley, Iowa to William and Anna (Nitzsche) Egli. Norma grew up in Manson, IA. She was the youngest of seven children. She married John Carver, also from Manson, Iowa on August 1, 1952. During John’s time in the Air Force, they lived in Biloxi, Mississippi and Alexandria, Louisiana. After 4 years of service, John and Norma returned to Humboldt, IA to make their home and raise a family. They raised five children: Kim, Jane, John, Chris, and Dan.
Norma was a stay at home mom and a homemaker and enjoyed watching her children grow up. After her children were all in school, she spent many years working at the Humboldt County Courthouse. She enjoyed visiting with people each day at work. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She spent her free time cooking, sewing, and making quilts. Norma’s most prized possessions were her grandchildren. Norma will be remembered for her kind personality and loving heart.
Norma is survived by her children, Jane(Thomas) Jewitt of Sayre, PA; John (Barbara) of Rapid City, SD; Christopher (Pam) of West Des Moines, IA and Daniel(Courtney) of Omaha, NE; 10 grandchildren: Grace, Tara, Tyler, Elise, Jack, Samantha, Scott, Sadie, Sophia and Elliot; one sister, Darlene Anderson of Bloomington, MN; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband John, daughter Kimberley, her parents, William and Anna (Nitzsche) Egli, 2 brothers, Lloyd and Leonard Egli, and 3 sisters: Donna Strutzenberg, Betty Smothers and Irene Mays.
