Norma Kathleen Fuller, Ankeny, passed away on January 26, 2021 at Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny. Norma was born on March 16, 1942 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Gordon and Lois (Gunderson) DeGroote. She was the oldest of four children, with a younger sister Myrna and a younger brother Stephen. Her mother passed away when Norma was about four years old, after which her father married Irene Burkhart, and they later welcomed a son Dennis. In 1960, Norma graduated from Humboldt High School, and she married Richard Fuller that same year. They were marred for 58 years at the time of his death in 2018. Norma and Richard lived in the San Francisco, California area for 25 years. During their time in California, Norma worked for America-Fore Loyalty Group (3 years) and Litton Industries (21 years). In 1984, Norma and Richard moved to Des Moines, where Norma worked for Allied Insurance until her retirement. Norma and Richard moved to Clive in 1999 and she moved to Ankeny in 2019.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother Irene DeGroote, husband Richard Fuller, sister Myrna Marso, and an infant daughter. She is survived by brothers Stephen (Connie) DeGroote of Terre Haute, IN, and Dennis (Susan) DeGroote of Barnett, MO, and many nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions can be made to the Moffitt Animal Shelter in Humboldt, Iowa or to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 12th at Union Cemetery in Humboldt.
