Olive M. Carlson, 92, of Humboldt, passed away October 18, 2013 at the Humboldt Care Center North. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Hardy Methodist Church on the grounds of the Humboldt County Historical Museum. Interment will be in Vernon Township Cemetery at Hardy. Visitation is from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Mrs. Carlson is survived by her sons, Bob (Kathy) Johnston of Dakota City and Dwight Lindquist of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, David Johnston of Ames and Melissa Lindquist of Sioux City; and her great grandchildren, Hannah and Maya. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin Carlson; sons, David and Daryl; brothers, Richard and Edwin; and sisters, Marlys, Ruth, Betty, and Valoice.
Olive was born January 7, 1921 and raised at Hardy, Iowa. She married Gilbert Johnston and the couple made their home at Hardy. Olive held various jobs including running restaurants in Hardy and Morehead and at the Humboldt hospital and care centers. She married Lloyd T. Lindquist and they made their home at Lehigh where she was a long time resident. She later married Marvin Carlson and the couple farmed near Boxholm. Following Mr. Carlson’s death, Olive returned and made her home at Dakota City until becoming a resident of the Humboldt Care Center North.
Olive was a member of the Methodist Church. She loved horses and enjoyed playing the organ, cooking and baking, and dancing in her younger years.
