Patricia “Pat” A. Hayler Dalton, 82, of Humboldt, passed away on Sunday morning, November 24, 2024 in the Long Term Care Unit of the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Pat was born July 18, 1942 in Humboldt, the daughter of Junior and Loretta (Conlon) George. She attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1960. On April 8, 1967 she was united in marriage to Jack Hayler in Humboldt. The couple made their home in Depew, New York for a year and a half and decided to move back to Rockwell City, Manson area to be closer to family. After Jack’s death in 1978, Pat, Doug and Laura moved to Humboldt to be close to her family and raise her children. Pat stayed home to raise her children and did daycare for family members and their children. Pat worked as the school secretary at Taft Elementary in Humboldt for over 20 years, retiring in 2001. In 1987, Pat met Mike Dalton and the two were married on March 10, 1989 at Holy Rosary Church in Fort Dodge and they blended their families making Humboldt their home. In retirement Pat and Mike enjoyed walking and biking in and around Humboldt trails, Spirit Lake, Okoboji and Twin Lakes. She had a passion for flowers and developed spectacular flower gardens in their back yard. She enjoyed wintering in Arizona with Mike and traveling around the state of Iowa, however it was time with her family and grandchildren that she cherished most.
