Patricia A. “Patty” Schulte 59 of Dakota City died Monday January 24, 2011 at the Fonda Care Center. A memorial mass will be held Saturday January 29 at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Church in Humboldt. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be 5 to 8 PM Friday at the funeral home with a rosary and scripture service at 7.
Patty was born in Yankton, South Dakota to Gilbert and Margaret (Kuchta) Schulte. The family moved to Dakota City in 1955, and Patty lived her entire life there until she had to move to the Care Center in December due to failing health. She went to school at St. Mary’s School, Humboldt High School, Iowa Central Community College, and Buena Vista University. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree with 4 majors. Patty struggled with health problems throughout her life that made it difficult for her to maintain employment. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church, the Worthwhile Club, the Lioness Club, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Patty enjoyed reading, word puzzles, calling bingo, and country music.
Patty is survived by 2 aunts, several cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Kenneth.
