Pat S. Lenning, 71 of Livermore, passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital with his family at his side.
He was born March 4, 1947 in Clarion, Iowa, the son of Helmer and Ann (Lynch) Lenning. He grew up on a farm south of Humboldt on Gotch Park Road. Throughout his life he helped his farmer friends with the harvest and working the land. At the early age of 17, he started to drive trucks, first for George Dunphy and later many other local companies, yet especially enjoyed Blacktop Service, having been there numerous years and retiring in 2017. He was united in marriage to Carol A. Riley on April 30, 1988 in Livermore. The couple made their home in Livermore. Pat had a passion for antique cars and tractors and loved going to car shows and taking tractor rides.
He is survived by his wife, Carol of Livermore, his children, Shawn (Geoffrey) Green of Humboldt, Scott Lenning, Sr. of Liberty, South Carolina, T.J. (Sam) Lenning of Rolfe and Amanda (Jeremy) Ricklefs of Bode, his step-children, Jimy (Liza) Ludwig of Curlew, Jerry (Renita) Ludwig of Orleans, Indiana and Cindy Bretz of Sutherland, Iowa, 23 grandchilden and 13 great-grandchildren, his brothers, Chris (Linda) Lenning of Woodbine and Robert Lenning of Orion, Illinois, a special cousin, Mary “MuMu” Gresham of Parkville, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-daughter, Tracey Fogelman, three grandsons, Matthew, Richard and David Ludwig and an infant sister, Beverly Lenning.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 1st at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 2nd at the Faith United Methodist Church, Humboldt. Burial will be in Indian Mound Cemetery. Memorials in Pat’s name can be directed to Unity Point Hospice.
