Pauline C. Bowman, 92, of Humboldt, passed away September 2, 2015 at the Humboldt Care Center South. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt with the Rev. J.K. Raether officiating. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery, Fort Dodge. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Thursday (today) at the Church. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Pauline Caroline George, the daughter of Paul and Sylvia (Larson) George, was born January 4, 1923 at Pomeroy, Iowa. As a child, she moved with her family to farms in the Fort Dodge area and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1940. On December 20, 1942, she was united in marriage to Howard Alfred Grebner at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. The couple made their homes in the Gilmore City and Humboldt areas where they farmed until moving to Humboldt in 1973. Mr. Grebner passed away in May of 1984 and Pauline continued to maintain her home. On October 23, 1999, Pauline married Francis Bowman and he passed away in March of 2008. Pauline became a resident of the Humboldt Care Center South in 2005
Pauline worked as a ward clerk for the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital for 18 years until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, the LWML and the voting assembly. She was a past member of Trinity Lutheran Church at Deer Creek, enjoyed crocheting, and was very proud of her garden.
Pauline is survived by her children, Cheryl Larson of Algona, Dennis Grebner of Hamilton, MO, Kevin Grebner of Humboldt, and Stanley Grebner of Corning; Step-daughters, Clarann Smith of Tampa, FL, Rachel Hoffmann of Southington, CT, and Jeanette Podbielski of Houston, TX; 12 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; brother, Glen Kleen of Round Lake, MN; and sister, Janis Schofield of Odebolt. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard Grebner; son, Brian Grebner; daughter, Lou Ann Evans; husband, Francis Bowman; and sister, Irene Weber.
