Pauline I. Holden, 102, of Bode, passed away July 9, 2011 at the West Bend Care Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 Saturday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Bode. Interment will be in St. Olaf Cemetery. At the family’s request there will be no visitation. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Bode is in charge of arrangements.
Pauline Bonnstetter, the daughter of Paul and Susanna (Fuchen) Bonnstetter, was born December 15, 1908 at the family home in Kossuth County. She attended St. Peter and Paul’s parochial school in West Bend and was baptized and confirmed by Father Doberstein. She graduated from West Bend High School in 1928 and attended Thompson School of Cosmetology in Des Moines, graduating in 1933.
Following her education, Pauline owned and operated her own salon at West Bend and later for many years in her home in Bode. She was united in marriage to Seval Holden in 1936. Together they lived and farmed in the Bode area their entire married life. Mr. Holden passed away in 1984 and Pauline continued to maintain her home in Bode until March of this year.
Pauline was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and the Gleaner Circle. She was also an active participant of the Senior Citizens in Bode. She is survived by her sons, Ronald Holden of Holland, MI, and Gary Holden of Colorado Springs, CO; daughters, Sandra Schulze of Valencia, CA, and Diana Garrison of Colorado Springs, CO; seven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Seval; son, Eldred Holden; grandson, Allen Schenone; four brothers, Michael, Rudolf, Christian, and Ervin Bonnstetter; and four sisters, Catherine Bleuer, Caroline Thatcher, Emma Fehr, and Justina Thatcher.
