Phyllis C. Moore, 91, of Shenandoah, formerly of Humboldt, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018 at her home in Windsor Manor.
She was born February 18, 1927 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of Philo and Nelle (Van Driest) Tabor. She grew up on a farm in Beaver Township and graduated from Humboldt High School. She was united in marriage to Wilbur G. Moore on November 26, 1944 and celebrated 71 years of marriage. The couple farmed in Beaver Township until 1950 when Wilbur was called to active duty in the Air Force and served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. The couple moved to various locations throughout the country during his military career. In 1971, they returned to Humboldt.
Phyllis was an active member of Oak Hill Church. She loved the Lord, and no matter where she lived, she was always active in church. She played the piano, sang in the choir, was a Sunday school teacher and was active in women’s missionary circles. She had a variety of interests including music, sewing, crafts, reading and traveling and was a member of Beaver Ladies Club for many years.
She is survived by her children, Jerry (Beverly) Moore of Charlotte, NC and Pat Moore of Shenandoah; her granddaughter, Lacey (Mac) Duskin of Charlotte, NC and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wilbur, and her brother, Claire Tabor.
Visitation will be at 12:00 noon and her funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 29 at Oak Hill Church in Humboldt, Iowa. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Humboldt.
