Ralph Stellhorn, 83, of Humboldt, passed away September 14, 2010 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Thursday (today) at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Humboldt County.
Ralph Herbert Theodore Stellhorn, the son of Alvin Henry and Gertrude Augusta (Liefer) Stellhorn, was born July 13, 1927 at Red Bud, Illinois. Following his education, Ralph enlisted in the United States Army and served overseas during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, Ralph returned to southern Illinois where he was employed by the railroad. He then went to work for the Weiss family on their farm in Beaver Township, Humboldt County. He was united in marriage to Lorna Weiss on June 18, 1954. The couple made their home on the family farm until his retirement from farming in 1979 when they moved to town. Ralph was then employed be West Bend Processing and Jet Co. until his retirement. He continued to work part-time as the manager of the laundromat in Humboldt. Ralph became a resident of the Humboldt Care Center South in 2008.
Mr. Stellhorn was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, the Chicago Cubs, college basketball, music, and following his children’s activities.
