Randy Paul Zimmerman, the son of Earl and Arleene (Mitchell) Zimmerman, was born September 9, 1956 at Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was raised on a farm near Renwick and received his education in Renwick. He attended Boone Valley High School where he was the drummer in the band. He enjoyed singing and jamming with his brother, who played the guitar, and loved his long thick hair. Following his graduation in 1974, Randy went to work for Frit Industries in Humboldt. He then worked at the elevator and along with Paul Kraft, owned and operated their satellite television business, K&Z Sales. On September 18, 1976, Randy married Julie Kraft and to this union Justin and Jenna were born. The marriage was later dissolved. Randy became an owner/operator driver for Moorman’s at Renwick, the Hardy Elevator, Pioneer Seed Corn, and M&S and Sons of Humboldt. On September 13, 2004, Randy was united in marriage to Cheri Johnson Kirchhoff and the couple made their home in Humboldt where they worked hard on their family’s historic home and especially enjoyed sharing their pool with family and friends. In his spare time, he liked to golf and make trips to the grocery store for Cheri, which could take hours depending on who he ran into. Randy had a life-long love of motorcycles and was very proud of the day he bought his first Harley. The couple enjoyed many motorcycle trips around the country including Sturgis, Tennessee, Springfield, IL, and Colorado. His family will always remember him as a kind man who never met a stranger.
Randy will be greatly missed by his family who include his wife, Cheri; son, Justin (Sarah) Zimmerman of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Jenna (Adam) Bristow of Algona; step children, Jim Kirchhoff of Humboldt, Buck (Brooke) Kirchhoff of Humboldt, and Chris (Ashley) Kirchhoff of Humboldt; 13 grandchildren; and his brother, Rick Zimmerman of Renwick.
