Raymond H. Peltz, 94, of Fort Dodge, formerly of Humboldt, passed away December 26, 2012 at the Marian Home in Fort Dodge. Private family funeral services were held Friday, December 28, 2012 in the chapel of the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Interment was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Fort Dodge.
Raymond Herman Peltz, the son of Herman J. and Susie (White) Peltz, was born January 28, 1918 at rural Barnum, Iowa. He attended country schools in the area and following his education, enlisted into the United States Army. He served 4 ½ years in Europe during World War II where he saw action in North Africa, Italy, on Utah Beach in Normandy, France, Belgium, and Germany. Ray received the Silver and Bronze Star for his service and following his discharge, returned home. He was united in marriage to Marjorie Peterson on August 25, 1947 at the First Presbyterian Church in Omaha and the couple made their home on a farm in Humboldt County. They farmed together there until 1975 when they moved into Humboldt. Ray then went to work for K.C. Nielsen Implement until his retirement. In 1997, the couple moved to Fort Dodge. Mrs. Peltz passed away in January of this year and in October; Ray became a resident of the Marian Home.
Ray was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt. He especially enjoyed the winters he and Marjorie spent in Corpus Christi, Texas and fishing in the Gulf. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Ray is survived by his daughter, Ramona (Harold) Coon of Lohrville; grandchildren, Terry (Gerald) Gourley of Webster City, and Michael Coon of Ames; great grandchildren, Sarah, Breanna, and Garrett Gourley; and his great-great granddaughter, Marissa.
