Richard Lee Fuller, Clive, passed away on October 31, 2018 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Richard was born on August 16, 1939 in Eagle Grove, Iowa to Morris Fuller and Yolanda (Peterson) Fuller, and he was the third of five children in the family, with older brothers Duane and Dennis, a younger brother Ronnie, and a younger sister Diane. In 1957, Richard graduated from Bradgate Consolidated High School. In 1960, Richard married Norma DeGroote, and they were married for 58 years. Richard and Norma lived in the San Francisco, California area for 25 years. During their time in California, Richard served in the United States Navy from which he was honorably discharged in 1964, graduated from the College of San Mateo in 1967 with an Associate in Arts Degree, graduated from San Jose State University in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Welfare, and worked as a licensed vocational nurse and social worker. In 1984, Richard and Norma moved to Des Moines where Richard worked as a licensed social worker at Iowa Methodist Medical Center until his retirement. Richard and Norma moved to Clive in 1999.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ronnie, and an infant daughter. Richard is survived by his wife Norma, brothers Duane (Susan) Fuller of Rockford, Illinois, and Dennis (Rachel) Fuller of Humboldt, Iowa, sister Diane (Douglas) Lanning of Gilmore City, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions can be made to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital Fund, Animal Rescue League of Iowa, or Waukee YMCA.
