Richard Lowe, 62, of Fort Dodge, formerly of Humboldt, passed away September 1, 2014 at his home in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Saturday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Richard is survived by his children, Christy Lowe of Des Moines, Jason Lowe of Bode, Mike Lowe of Fort Dodge, and Andrea Lowe of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Cassidy, Chelsea, Tyler, Zach, Drake, Aaron, Ashton, and Serenity; brother, Gary (Janelle) Lowe of Humboldt; and sister, Sharon Porter of Oskaloosa. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Peggy Lowe; and sister-in-law, Wanda Dodrill.
Richard Lowe, the son of Gale and Eleanor Lowe, was born November 3, 1951 at Clarion, Iowa. He was raised on a farm in the LuVerne and Renwick area and graduated from Boone Valley High School. Following his education, he went to work for Winnebago in Forrest City and Rudy’s Small Engine Repair. In 1983, he went to work at Chantland’s in Humboldt where he remained for 25 years. Also in 1983, he was untied in marriage to Peggy Reetz and the couple made their home in Humboldt. In recent years, Richard enjoyed working for his best friend, Dave McPeak, at McPeak Trenching.
Richard enjoyed the time he spent with family and friends. He also enjoyed building model cars, Friday nights at the races in Algona, watching NASCAR and westerns on TV, demolition races, and grilling.
