Robert (Bob) Marcellus, 78, of Humboldt, Iowa passed away on April 27, 2021 at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital under Hospice care. He was a recent resident of Humboldt Care Center South and previously Humboldt Homes.
Robert Harold Marcellus was born on Sept. 23, 1942 in Pioneer, Iowa. His parents were Harold and Edith Marcellus. He is survived by his sons, Bryan (Tammy) of Willow Park, TX, Kip (Angela) of Kemp, TX, daughters Stephanie Marcellus and Tricia Folley of Abilene TX. He is also survived by his brother Richard (Madeliene) of Grinnell and his sister Roxana (John) Webster of Fort Dodge, and by 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Robert attended grade school in Pioneer and completed high school in Gilmore City. He joined the Navy after high school graduation in 1961, serving aboard the USS Enterprise during the Viet Nam war. He married Kathleen McFarland in 1962 in Humboldt, IA. Throughout his life, he and his family lived in Iowa, California, Virginia, Tennessee, Massachusetts and Texas. They divorced in 1978. He married Terry Hamm in Dallas, TX in 1979 and they divorced in 1987. He returned to Humboldt in 1989. Robert was a proud veteran and, later in life, treasured meeting his friends for lunch at Hardees, the Back Seat Diner and Miller’s Landing.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 23rd at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service in Humboldt. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with military rites by the Sathers-Odgaard American Legion at Indian Mound Cemetery.
