Robert E. Kirchhof, 85, of Thor, passed away on July 21, 2020 in Fort Dodge.
Robert was born on August 1, 1934 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He graduated from Humboldt High School in 1952 and then attended Iowa Central Community College in Eagle Grove, Iowa. He married Carole (Johnson) Kirchhof on September 25, 1955. They were married for 64 years.
Robert farmed in Humboldt County and for many of those years had livestock. He was an active church member at Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor, Iowa. He was elected as the church president for many years. He was involved with the Farm Bureau, Coop, and was a part owner and board member of the Thor Feeder Pig. He loved German Shepherds and had several that helped on the farm.
Robert is survived by his wife, Carole, sister, Marlys (Roger) Johnson, four daughters, Cheryl (Tom) O’Hern, Susan Kirchhof, Deb (Larry) Almond, and Michelle (Mark) Vetter and six grandchildren, Brandon (Stacey) O’Hern, Kinsey (Jay) Lombard, Katie (Tyler) Witte, Connor (Kelsey) Almond, Allison Vetter and Sam Vetter. He has eight great-grandchildren.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Hazel Kirchhof and brother, David Kirchhof.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 25th at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home a visitation will be held an hour prior to the start of the funeral service. Burial will follow the funeral at Memorial Park Cemetery in Fort Dodge, Iowa. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the family’s discretion.
