Roger G. Terwilliger, 89, of Humboldt passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge.
Roger Grant Terwilliger, the son of Robert and Pearl (Gilliland) Terwilliger, was born May 25, 1930 on a farm in Corinth Township in Humboldt, he attended country school through the 8th grade. He then helped on the home farm and hired out to neighbors until he began farming on his own in 1953. On May 30, 1953 he was united in marriage to Marcia Hansen in Humboldt. The couple farmed in Corinth Township until his retirement in 1994. He continued to live on the farm until his death. Roger enjoyed his lifelong ambition of farming, his two-cylinder tractors, listening to country music, watching old western movies and reading over 900 western novels. He mostly enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Roger was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church.
Roger is survived by his wife of 66 years Marcia, daughters, Jean (Trent) Moss of Humboldt, Cathy (Jeff) Helvick of Livermore and son, Tim (Jana) Terwilliger of Humboldt, grandchildren Melanie (Brody) Clark, Emily Moss, Michelle (Andy) Kluss and Molly (A.J.) Dickinson, great-grandchildren Emma, Elle and Nathan Clark, Darbie Dickinson and Daxton Grant who is scheduled to arrive on May 25. Sisters Betty Monson of Pomeroy and Marlene Pandil of Humboldt. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son James Terwilliger, brother Robert Terwilliger Jr. and sisters Dorothea Cunningham and Inez Schulze.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 11 at 11:00 a.m. in the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 10 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Private family burial will be held in Indian Mound Cemetery.
