Ruby E. Stauffer, 96 passed from this life on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the Grandview HealthCare Center in Oelwein, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 3, 2011 at the Faith United Methodist Church in Gilmore City with the Reverend Wally Paige, officiating.
Burial will be in Marble Valley Cemetery in Gilmore City. Friends may call from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Ruby was born November 30, 1914 in Jamaica, Iowa, the daughter of John and Ruth (McGhee) Wilson. She married Melvin Stauffer on February 3, 1937 at the Riverside Methodist Parsonage in Fort Dodge. The couple made their home on a farm near Gilmore City until 1984 when Ruby moved to Humboldt. She went to live with her daughter in Oelwein in 2002. She was an avid gardener and bingo player who always had a zest for the brighter side of life and humor.
Ruby is survived by her daughter, Shirley (Vidal) Mendez of Oelwein, her son, Rollo (Lois) Stauffer of Des Moines, 8 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren & 18 step great-grandchildren, her daughters-in-law; Francis Stauffer of Pocahontas & Patricia Stauffer of Indianola.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin, sons; Edwin & Dennis, her brothers; Frank & Johnnie, 3 grandchildren and 1 step great-grandchild.
