Ruth A. Ropte, 70, of Humboldt, passed away October 3, 2017 at the Humboldt Care Center South. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Oak Hill Church in Humboldt with Pastor Doug Wolter officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at the church. Interment will be in Zion Cemetery, Beaver Township Humboldt County. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt is assisting the family.
Ruth A. Cole, the daughter of Roger and Ida (Fountain) Cole, was born February 23, 1947 in Lansing, Michigan. She was raised at Holland, Michigan and graduated from Holland High School with the class of 1965. She then attended Cornerstone College where she earned her Bachelors in Religious Education, and Eastern Michigan University where she earned her Masters in Education. On July 12, 1975, she was united in marriage to Lance Ropte at Ypsilanti, Michigan and to this union, six children were born. She taught in Christian Schools in Ypsilanti and Allen Park, Michigan before the family made their home in Warsaw, Indiana where she taught in Fort Wayne. In 2000, the family moved to Humboldt to make their home on the family farm.
Mr. Ropte passed away in June of 2007 and Ruth continued to maintain her home on the farm. Ruth was a member of Oak Hill Church in Humboldt where she loved attending bible study and teaching Sunday School. She enjoyed crocheting and cross-stitch and tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She was a lady of incredible faith, which she worked diligently, to instill in her children. Above all, Ruth loved the time she spent in devotions and with her family.
She is survived by her children, David (Elicia) Ropte of Des Moines, Daniel (Sarah) Ropte of Noblesville, IN, Amy (Mark) Johnson of Windom, MN, Joshua (Tiffany) Ropte of Humboldt, Amanda (Michael) Vinsand of Humboldt, and Jason (Molly) Ropte of West Des Moines; 17 grandchildren, with one on the way; brother, Kenneth (Victoria) Cole of Cancun, Mexico; and sisters, Gayle (Eric) Johnson of Mount Juliet, TN and Nancy Snyder of Gobles, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lance; and infant brother, Douglas Cole.
