Sammi Prenger, 63, of Dakota City passed away Tuesday August 11, 2015 at her home. A memorial services will be held at 7 PM Friday in the Chapel of the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt, The Reverend Christy Ehrle officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt is assisting the family.
Sami was born July 7, 1952 in Wisconsin to Eli and Verna (Ratliff) Samuelson. Her family moved to Duluth, MN, and she graduated from Duluth East High School in 1970. She and her step-father, Richard Christensen shared a close relationship, and she always referred to him as “Dad”. Sammie lived in Eagle River, WI and spent a few years in Florida during her early adult years. She moved to Dakota City in 1990, and on July 16, 1993 she married Steve Prenger. Sammi had a son, Paul, and she acquired for more children when she married Steve: Steph, Heather, Kiley, and Ted. Outside of the home, Sammi worked at Casey’s in Dakota City, as a jailor at the County LEC, Pasquale’s Frozen Pizza, and at Trinity Hospital in Fort Dodge. Her favorite job was working at Humboldt Care Center North.
Sammi loved to cook. It has been heard that her baked beans were very special. She liked working in the garden, fishing, collecting cook books, and supporting the Green Bay Packers. She was a special lady to many individuals, and she had a special affinity for her pets, birds, and butterflies. Most of all, she enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and great-grandson.
Those remaining to cherish her memory include her husband, Steve; son Paul (April) Samuelson, step-children Steph (Jeff) Bowden, Heather (Rod) Naeve, Kiley (Shane) Abrahamson, and Ted (Theresa) Prenger, 21 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. Also surviving are her brothers Michael Samuelson of Spokane, WA, and Rick Samuelson of Eagle River, WI. Preceding Sammi in death were her parents and brother, Charles Samuelson.
