Sandra K. Vanderhoff, 61, of Humboldt, passed away February 26, 2011 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday in the chapel of the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Sandra is survived by her husband, Franklin of Humboldt; daughters, Tracy (Todd) Zuetlau and Annette (Eric) Keller; grandchildren, Kala, Marcus, and Adam Keller, and Blake Zuetlau; her mother, Vilda Peterson of Pioneer; brothers, Gary Thurston of Fort Dodge and Kenny Thurston of Gowrie; and sisters, Frances Stauffer of Pocahontas, and Julia LaBaume of Lanyon. She was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Vanderhoff in 1992; father, James Thurston; stepfather, Richard Peterson; brothers, Jim and Daniel Thurston; and an infant sister.
Sandra K. Thurston, the daughter of James and Vilda (Thompson) Thurston, was born May 23, 1949 at Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was raised at Pioneer and received her education at Pioneer and Gilmore City. She was united in marriage to Franklin Vanderhoff on May 13, 1967 at St. John’s parsonage in Gilmore City. The couple made their home at Pioneer where they raised their three children. In 1994, Franklin and Sandra moved to Humboldt.
Sandra enjoyed gardening and loved her flowers especially her lilies. She liked the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, and feeding the birds and squirrels in her back yard. Above all, Sandra loved the time she spent with her grandchildren.
