Sharon K. Long, 81, of Humboldt, passed away on Friday morning, January 26, 2024 at the Algona Manor Care Center following a lengthy illness.
She was born November 19,1942 in Algona, Iowa the daughter of Jerry and Millie (Harmon) McVay. She was raised and educated in Algona, attending Algona Schools. She was united in marriage to Daryl L. Long on April 18, 1958. The couple made their home in Humboldt where they raised their family. Sharon worked at Humboldt Chiropractic for over twenty years. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, the VFW and American Legion Auxiliary’s. Her goal in life which she achieved was to do one kind thing for someone each day.
Sharon is survived by her children Darla VanGronigen of Humboldt, Daryl (Karen) Long, Jr. of Fairfield, California and Dana (Laura) Long of Hot Springs, Arkansas, her grandchildren Leah (Jon) Myer, Kellie Long, Camille (Andrew) Cuneo, Kayte Long and Michael (Brittney) Long and her great-grandchildren RyLee, Paitynn, Tayler, Maddux, Slate and JoLee, her sisters; Charlotte (Danny) Brustrom of Benton, Arkansas, Jeanette Boge of Humboldt and Linda (Gordy) Harmon of Benton, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 65 years, Daryl, her brothers Daryl P. McVay and Jerry D. McVay and her grandson Frank Marchant.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 31st at Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 30th at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service, Humboldt. Burial will be in Indian Mound Cemetery. www.masonlindhart.com
