Sharon L. Reed, 81, of Humboldt, passed on Thursday morning, October 24, 2024 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital, Long Term Care Unit.
Sharon was born August 20, 1943 in Rushville, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and JoAnn (Riggs) Dunn. She grew up the daughter of a United States Navy Sailor living her childhood in Guam and California. Once she graduated from high school she moved to Iowa. She worked as a waitress in Fort Dodge and met Stanley N. Reed. The couple was united in marriage on July 10, 1977. They made their home Clarion and later the Bode, Livermore and Ottosen area. Sharon devoted her time to raising her children fulltime. Following a day at school they would come home to brownies, cinnamon rolls or a special treat as Sharon enjoyed time in the kitchen baking and cooking. She enjoyed horses, books, her soap operas, cowboys, she had a green thumb and had a knack for gardening and canning. She also looked forward for an opportunity to entertain the grandkids.
Sharon is survived by her children; Beth (Harold) Jeannette and Charles (Leeria) Reed both of Humboldt and Matthew (Kim) Reed of Waterloo, stepdaughter Paula Rojas of Humboldt and stepson Brian Reed, her grandchildren; Mary, Saige, Michael, Tammy, Ariaunna, Oliver, Kathryn, Samuel, Corey, Amanda, Nicole & Terry and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Stanley and her brother Charles.
Memorial Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 23rd at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Humboldt. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Indian Mound Cemetery, Humboldt.
