Shirley A. Newton, 68, of Ottosen, passed away Tuesday at the Trinity Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ottosen. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Ottosen. Visitation with the family will be from 5-8 Friday evening at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Bode.

Mrs. Newton is survived by her husband, Monte of Ottosen; sons, Tim (Beverly) Klocko of Thomasville, GA and Jacob Newton of Ottosen; daughters, Shelli Simmons of Perry and Pam (Dan Gifford) Klocko; grandchildren, Douglas Klocko, Slater, Clinton, and Spencer Gifford, Katie Mendenhall, John and Christian Simmons; and sister, Rita Pearson of Marshalltown. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Loretta Babb; and brother, Bruce Irwin.

Shirley Ann Cram, the daughter of Merritt and Mabel (Peterson) Cram was born December 22, 1941 in Fort Dodge. She was raised and educated in the Fort Dodge area. On January 2, 1959 she was united in marriage to Larry Klocko. It was during this time that Shirley took care of the home and raised her three children. Mr. Klocko passed away in 1977. In May of 1984 she was united marriage to Monte Newton from this union came a son, Jacob. The couple made their homes in Pocahontas for one year and later Ottosen.

Mrs. Newton was and avid bowler, playing in league as well as many state and national tournaments. She enjoyed reading, playing puzzles and cards, and also quilting. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ottosen.
