Signe I. Sorlie, 98, or Humboldt, passed away July 31, 2011 at the North Care Center in Humboldt. Funeral services will be 9:00 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Minneapolis, MN. Visitation is from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Signe is survived by her nieces Evelyn Casserly of Coralville, IA; Shirley Decker of St. Paul, MN; Irene Shoen of Truman, MN; Fae Grundmeier of Hines, MN; Cynthis Maggio of Colorado Springs, CO; Carol Saia of Lynwood, WA and numerous grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Oscar and Harold Sorlie and sisters, Inga Sorlie, Agnes Cas, Clara Wald, Olga Nordin, one niece and two nephews.
Signe Sorlie, the daughter of Tidmund and Marit (Juvkam) Sorlie was born April 8, 1913 in Norden, MN. Signe graduated from the University of MN and taught home economics for several years in MN before she moved to WI to become an extension home agent for over 25 years. She was very active in the education and extension service organizations in MN and WI. At the age of 65 she decided to retire and move to Humboldt to be closer to her two sisters. Signe was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church and belonged to the LWML.
