Steven E. Konecne

Steven Eugene Konecne, 63, of Humboldt passed away December 17, 2020 at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.


Steven was born to Dwane and Lois (Sharp) Konecne on July 7, 1957 in Maryville, Missouri. He grew up in Southwest Iowa and attended school there. In 1974 he moved with his parents to Hardy, Iowa; and in 1975 graduated from Boone Valley High School in Renwick. He attended Westmar College, where he made the Dean’s list. He moved back to Humboldt and started working at Crestpak (now Liguria Foods) in September of 1977. In September of 1979, some friends set him up with a blind date. A little over a year later, on November 29, 1980, Steve married Judy Raber--his blind date. To this union two children were born: Benjamin Allen in 1985 and Maggie Jean in 1987. In 1983 Steve earned his Associate Degree in Industrial Electronics from Iowa Central Community College. Steve continued to work at Liguria Foods until February of 1998 when he decided to try something different. In 2002, Steve obtained his CDL and started his career as an over the road truck driver. He drove for a few companies, and was driving for Custom Made Products in Humboldt at the time of his death.


Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Judy; children, Benjamin and Maggie; granddaughter, Peyton; mother, Lois Konecne; brothers, Dennis, Curt, and Mike; sisters, Kathy Peterson and Amy Swanson; sister-in-law, Jan Boeding; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Dwane and brother, Justin.


Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 28th at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 29th at LifeGate Fellowship Church, located on the Humboldt Historical Museum Campus. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Humboldt. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to The VFW Loan Closet, Stylin’ Pooch Rescue or the Moffitt Animal Shelter.
