Thomas Orr, 78, of Humboldt, formerly of Eldora, passed away February 10, 2014 at the Humboldt Care Center South. Graveside services will be held at East Lawn Cemetery in Eldora. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt is assisting the family.
Thomas Orr was born December 9, 1935 at Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Orphaned as a child, Tom spent his childhood in an orphanage in Pittsburg until enlisting into the United States Navy during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, Tom returned home and was united in marriage to his wife, Sharon. The couple made their home at Eldora, Iowa where Tom was employed as an electrician. He also served as an EMT and Paramedic for the City of Eldora. Mrs. Orr passed away December 21, 2004 and Tom continued to maintain his home until meeting his long time companion, Delores Koob. He then made his home at Humboldt.
Tom’s faith was important to him and was known to pray often. He enjoyed camping and woodworking. He is survived by Sharon’s children, Thomas (fiancé,Heather McAhren) Orr Jr, Trevor Wiley, Neil (Deb) Brase, Dawn (Thomas) Fox, Darcie (Keith) Bohle, and Dina (Kip) Grimson; Delores’ children, Gary (Kathy) Lankford of Livermore, Carla Lankford of Humboldt, Rick (Renee) Koob of Humboldt, Darla (Kevin) Stockman of Ogden, Randy (Beth) Koob of Hardy, Troy (Sue) Koob of Humboldt, Brenda (Kelly) Dahl of Kearney, NE, and Lynn (Steve) Dahlsten of Pomeroy; 23 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents; his wife, Sharon; step son, Tracy Brase; Granddaughter, Kimberly Grimson; and his long-time companion, Delores Koob.
