Thomas A. Harders, 41, of Humboldt, passed away January 10, 2015 at his home in Humboldt. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Thomas Allen Harders, the son of Gary Herman and Katheryn Rose (Kennedy) Harders, was born January 23, 1973 at Humboldt, Iowa. He was raised and educated at Humboldt, graduating in 1991. Thomas attended Iowa Central Community College before transferring to the University of North Iowa where he majored in accounting. Following his education, Tom’s interest moved to the transportation field and he went to work for Schneider trucking while earning his Commercial Drivers License. He enjoyed the many miles he spent team driving with his good friend Justin Blomker. It was during this time that he made his home in Texas and went to work for Cougar Transportation. Following the death of his mother, Thomas returned to Humboldt and took a job with Hog Slats until he could return to his trucking career. Most recently, Thomas was driving for Oberg Trucking in Fort Dodge.
Thomas enjoyed playing video and board games and mystical creatures, especially dragons, fascinated him. He spent his free time watching TV and movies and was a fan of Japanese animation. Most recently, Thomas was working to perfect his skill as a woodworker.
Thomas is survived by his brother and sisters, Gary (Inez) Harders of Dakota City, Juanita (Jerry) Johnson of Nashua, IA, and Barbara (Kevin) Benton of Fort Dodge; nieces and nephews, Nick (Brooke) Humphrey, Austin (Sarah) Humphrey, Jacob Benton, Kayla Benton, Natasha (Garrett) Tierney, Adam (Bobbie) Johnson, and Shannon (Pete) Hutchinson; and great nieces and nephews, Taylyn, Christopher, Onnaleah, Oliviah, Leighton, Laney, Bryce, and Eli. His parents and his grandparents preceded him in death.
