Thomas L. Larson, 77 of Humboldt, passed away October 10, 2015 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice House following a lengthy battle with COPD. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. tonight at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Interment is in Corinth Township Cemetery.
Thomas Leroy Larson, the son of Oscar Louis and Viola Valeria (Thorndike) Larson was born July 5, 1938 on the family farm in Corinth Township, Humboldt County. He was baptized in the First Lutheran Church and attended Corinth #10 country school. Following his education, Tom began farming with his father. At the time, farming was done with horses and they cared for their livestock without electricity on the farm.
On September 9, 1960, Tom was united in marriage to Nancy Palmer at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge and to this union four daughters were born. The couple made their home in Corinth Township all of their married lives. In addition to farming, Tom worked for Pro Coop in Pioneer and Rutland for many years. He also worked for many of the industries in Humboldt and Wilbert Vault Company in Fort Dodge. Tom loved to talk about farming with his friends and enjoyed square dancing with Nancy. Above all, Tom loved his family who will always remember him as a kind patient man.
Tom is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy Larson of Humboldt; his daughters, Laura (Alan) Exley of Newton, Christine (Dan) Freund of Humboldt, Sandra Bohan of Grimes, and Deanne Hannigan of Mansfield, TX; grandchildren, Troy Exley of Newton, Trent Exley of Newton, Sarah Olson of Humboldt, Maribeth Freund of Dakota City, Dana Bohan of Grimes and Keith Bohan of Grimes; and his brother, Kenneth (Virginia) Larson of Humboldt. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marian Daggy; brother, Robert Larson; and grandchildren, Andrew and Elizabeth.
