Todd Applegate, 39, of Humboldt, passed away May 15, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City. Funeral services will be 1:30 Wednesday in the chapel of the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Interment will be in Indian Mound Cemetery, Humboldt with full military rites by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. Visitation is from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday (today) at the funeral home.
Todd is survived by his wife, Toni of Humboldt; his children Jaci (19), and Tyler (16), both at home; parents, Sherman Applegate of Humboldt, and Carol Pirie of Fort Dodge; sisters, Tracy (Marlin) Stiawalt of Humboldt, and Kim (Dennis) Koch of North Carolina; brother, David (Sara) Applegate; mother and father-in-law, Norman and Sandy Sorenson; sisters-in-law, Kim Bennett and Stacey (Brian) Boughey; brothers-in-law, Bud (Kate) Sorenson, Dan (Lori) Sorenson, Scott Sorenson, and Chad (Paula) Sorenson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; three uncles; and an infant nephew. Todd Applegate was born August 2, 1970 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He received his education at Humboldt and graduated from Humboldt High School with the class of 1989. He was united in marriage to Toni Sorenson in 1991 and the couple made their home at Humboldt. Todd was employed by the Chantland Company of Humboldt and along with his wife, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, was co-owner of the Fireside Restaurant in Humboldt.
Todd enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spending time with his Chantland buddies. He especially enjoyed visiting with his Rainbow Drive neighbors and was always willing to help them out. Todd always had a smile on his face and loved to laugh. Above all, Todd loved the time spent with his family and with his two dogs, Lucy and Melvin.
