Thomas Howard Curry was born June 24, 1956 to Howard and Irene (Mitsven) Curry. He graduated from Twin River Valley High School in 1974. He then attended Buena Vista College and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business. He was a self-employed businessman through Ag Parts for 25 years and operated an embroidery business (TLC) Threads.
Tom and Lisha (Johnson) Curry were united in marriage on July 29, 1979 in Humboldt.
Tom is remembered by his witty sense of humor and his ability to make everyone smile. He could make a complete stranger feel comfortable and welcome. While the kids were growing up, he played a big role in coaching, on and off the field. Tom was one of the lucky few that was truly happy at all times in life.
Tom's greatest joy came while spending time with his family- most recently, building snowmen with his grandchildren. Tom was also an avid Iowa State fan and enjoyed attending all Cyclone sporting events. His spare time was spent on afternoon bike rides, barbequing, traveling, golfing and spending time at Lake Okoboji.
Tom passed away December 7, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines at 59 years of age.
Tom and Lisha celebrated 36 years of marriage, were a perfect match and loved spending time together. Along with Lisha, Tom is survived by his son, Kit (Hania) Curry and their children, Mila and Talia of West Des Moines; his daughters, Jill (Matt) Schafer and their son, Rohnin of Ankeny and Jaycie (Josh) Miller and their daughter, Nora of Ankeny; his mother, Irene Curry of Bode; his sister Pam (Jeff) Jacobson of Parkersburg; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Curry.
