Verna Lippolt, 85, of Hardy, passed away June 29, 2011 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Hardy Methodist Church on the grounds of the Humboldt County Historical Museum. Interment will be in Vernon Township Cemetery, Hardy. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Verna Brayton, the daughter of Asa and Florence (Mack) Brayton, was born October 27, 1925 at Hardy, Iowa. She attended school at Hardy and Renwick and graduated from Renwick High School in 1943. Following her education, Verna was employed in various businesses in Hardy including the grocery store, post office, and the Hardy Coop Elevator as a bookkeeper. In 1950, she married Carl Lippolt and to this union two sons were born. The marriage was later dissolved.
Verna joined the Homemaker Health Aide Service in 1973 and remained with them until her retirement in 1990. Verna has made her home in Hardy with her son Douglas until the time of her death. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church and was active in the Hardy UMW. She enjoyed rummage sales.Verna is survived by her sons, Dennis and Douglas, both of Hardy; grandson, Josh (Mandy) Lippolt of Hardy; and her sister, Shirley (Herb) Henjes of Jefferson, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, grandson-in-law, and great granddaughter, Andrea and Mike Reed and Isabel; two brothers, Lloyd and Keith Brayton; and her nephew, Daryl Brayton.
