Vivian M. Perin, 74 of Humboldt passed away Tuesday September 21 2010 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice House on Fort Dodge. A celebration of Vivian’s life will be held Sunday September 26 at 2 PM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Visitation will be held Saturday September 25 from 5 to 8 PM at the Mason Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Vivian’s survivors include her husband of nearly 57 years, Kenneth Perin of Humboldt; daughters Becky (Dean) Adair of Adel and Barb (Dean) Crist of West Des Moines; son K. C. Perrin of Orlando, Florida; grandchildren Nicky Wood, Travis Adair, Amy (Crist) Defke, Erin (Crist) Jenkins, Mike Crist, Megan Perin, and Melissa Goodrich; and 10 great grandchildren. Vivian was preceded in death by her parents and brother John Clapsaddle and sister Shirley Rice.
Vivian Clapsaddle was born January 15, 1936 in rural Kossuth County near Corwith the daughter of Charles and Virginia (Liptrap) Clapsaddle. She received her education at Corwith and was valedictorian of her high school class. She worked for Banker’s Life in Des Moines until she married Kenneth Perin December 6, 1953 in Corwith. They made their home in Greenwood, Mississippi and Fairbanks, Alaska while Mr. Perrin was serving the Air Force. They lived in Waverly, Iowa Briefly before moving to Humboldt in 1956 where she resided until her death. She worked as a homemaker and raising her children. In 1974 she began working at Mease Elementary School in Dakota City as a teacher associate and secretary. She retired in 1994. She was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Vivian enjoyed crocheting, home improvement projects and traveling with Ken. In the course of their travels they visited all 50 US states and many countries abroad. Family was of primary importance to Vivian. She delighted in caring for her husband, children and their descendants.
Vivian’s family requests memorials be directed to the Seminary Students Fund at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of to the Paula J. Baber Hospice House in Fort Dodge.
